Robertson recognised at Scottish Property Awards 2026
Robertson Group celebrated at yesterday’s (Thursday 26 February) Scottish Property Awards in Glasgow, with two projects receiving top honours in their respective categories.
Development of the Year (Public Buildings) was awarded to Macmillan Community Hub, while The McEwan, Phase 2 won Build to Rent Development of the Year. Both projects were delivered by Robertson Construction Central East and completed in 2025.
The sustainable Macmillan Community Hub at Macmillan Square, North Edinburgh, competed against new and retrofit public buildings across education, health, leisure, culture and local services. The partnership project between the City of Edinburgh Council and North Edinburgh Arts was designed by Richard Murphy Architects and brings together a new library, 185-place early learning centre and expanded arts facilities under one roof, alongside six affordable homes and a social enterprise café.
Robertson has successfully delivered build to rent (BTR) developments for MODA in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. The 139-home phase 2 of The McEwan in Edinburgh's historic Fountainbridge is the second time the development has received the Build to Rent Development of the Year award, with the first phase of 337-apartments winning in 2022.
The McEwan became the first residential building in Europe to receive three-star Fitwel accreditation, making it one of the healthiest places to live in Scotland. With a focus on wellbeing, it boasts a wealth of amenities, from resident lounges, a private dining room, cinema and co-working spaces to roof terraces and a 24/7 gym.
Elliot Robertson, Chief Executive Officer, Robertson Group said: "Winning in these two categories is a fantastic result for our teams in Central East. The Macmillan Community Hub and The McEwan are very different projects, but each relied on the same high level of collaboration between our people and our partners. I want to thank all the teams involved for their hard work and commitment to delivering for City of Edinburgh Council, North Edinburgh Arts, and Moda.”
David Cairns, Regional Managing Director, Robertson Construction Central East collected the awards alongside project partners, and said: “Seeing our projects named Development of the Year in both public and private categories demonstrates the high quality that we are successfully delivering for our customers. Our teams work incredibly hard and it is great to see recognition of that work by the industry. These projects are having a positive impact on the local community and the building users. Community wealth building is also an important part of our work and both have delivered legacies that are still being felt in the local neighbourhoods and economies.”
In addition to the wins, four other Robertson projects were shortlisted: Dundas House for Development of the Year (Commercial Buildings) and Architectural Excellence (Commercial); Monifieth Learning Campus for Development of the Year (Public Buildings); the Life Sciences Innovation Hub at the University of Dundee for Architectural Excellence (Commercial); and Clyde Court for Student Accommodation of the Year.
Founded in 2014, the Scottish Property Awards aims to recognise the best new commercial and public buildings in Scotland. The independent competition is judged by a panel of experts drawn from across the sector, bringing together industry experience and market knowledge to recognise the greatest achievements in the built environment across Scotland.
