  • I’d recommend the Graduate Apprentice Programme to anyone considering a career in construction. It’s given me the chance to earn while I learn, gaining a debt-free degree while I build valuable hands-on experience on live projects.
Before joining Robertson, I completed a HNC Built Environment at college, which gave me a strong foundation and confirmed my passion for the construction industry. The graduate apprenticeship lets me continue that journey in a practical and meaningful way, supported by experienced colleagues and mentors.
It offers excellent opportunities and, for me, it's the ideal way to begin my career.

  • It was definitely tough at times. Throughout the apprenticeship my weeks were full on with work and submitting coursework on time.

However I can't complain about the support around me. My workplace mentors would always ask about my studies and were keen to help and give me time when I needed it. I never felt isolated, only supported.

I was young coming into the job but it's always been apparent to me that our senior management team is passionate about seeing young people progress. If you work for it, the opportunities are there.

  • I'd absolutely recommend a graduate apprenticeship programme instead of going to university full-time. I think it's the way forward and would have been far more valuable to me, especially as a construction site manager.
I was in 3rd year at uni when I came here as a summer intern. Until then I hadn't been on a construction site so initially found the experience quite overwhelming. However it highlighted the development opportunities that come with being hands-on, as well as putting into practice things I'd learned from coursework.
I joined the programme to continue working and finish my degree part-time.
