Fife Affordable Housing Programme

Fife Council’s Affordable Housing Programme is one of the largest in Scotland, with a target to build at least 3,500 new affordable homes over a five-year period by 2022. 

We worked collaboratively to support this, delivering high-quality affordable homes that delivered on the commitment to placemaking and sustainable communities, as well as helping to alleviate Scotland's housing shortage through the delivery of much needed new family homes.. 

Between 2018 and 2020, we had delivered eight affordable housing developments for the Council – over 240 homes.

This successful partnership continued with a further programme of seven affordable housing projects between 2023 and 2026, starting at Carslogie Road, Cupar and followed by Langside Crescent in Kennoway and Aberdour Road in the Pitcorthie area of Dunfermline.

Fife Affordable Housing sites:

• Bruce Street, Kinghorn (2018) – affordable social rent;
• Main Street, Crombie (2019) – affordable social rent;
• Happer Crescent, Glenrothes (2018) – affordable social rent;
• Station Road, Oakley (2019) – 23 modern two-and three-bedroom bungalows, with social hub, on the site of a former primary school;
• Cullen Drive, Glenrothes (2020) – 78 new dwellings, a mix of high-quality, modern bungalows, wheelchair-accessible, amenity housing and two-storey homes, for affordable social rent on a former brownfield site;
• Strathore Road, Thornton (2020) – 43 brand-new affordable homes;
• Keir Hardy Street, Methil (2020) – 25 new dwellings on the site of an old Building Services Depot;
• Balbirnie Road, Glenrothes (2020) – 20 affordable homes.

These projects were procured through Scape Group's National Major Works Framework. This was subsequently superseded by Major Works Scotland which was part of the National Construction framework and delivered by Robertson in partnership with Willmott Dixon.
