Summary
Delivering a modern renal care facility
Robertson Construction is undertaking a critical healthcare refurbishment at Bradford Royal Infirmary to reconfigure the Renal Dialysis Department. The project relocates the service back to its former lower ground floor location, creating a safer, more dignified environment for patients and improved facilities for staff.
Transforming space and systems
The works include internal demolition, structural alterations, and a new single-storey extension to house plant and ancillary spaces. Upgrades feature HTM-compliant ventilation, a relocated and enhanced water treatment plant with backup capacity, and improved staff welfare areas. A bulk acid delivery system is being introduced to reduce plastic waste and support sustainability goals.
Managing complexity in a live hospital
Delivered within a live hospital environment, the project requires careful phasing and infection control measures to minimise disruption. Space constraints have demanded innovative design solutions to maximise functionality while meeting clinical standards.
Creating a future-ready unit
Once complete, the new unit will provide improved privacy for patients, enhanced clinical workflows, and a facility designed to meet growing demand for renal services.
