Building a Sustainable Future in North Ayrshire

In Ayrshire, Robertson Construction has been instrumental in shaping the region’s-built environment. A notable example is the development of a new £20.8 million primary school in Irvine. This state-of-the-art facility, designed with Passivhaus principles, aims to provide a low-carbon, digitally enabled learning environment that supports sustainable and inclusive economic growth. The school features 12 classrooms, early learning spaces, and extensive outdoor areas to promote health and wellbeing among students.

Robertson is delivering a series of impactful infrastructure projects that aim to improve community services, environmental performance, and long-term sustainability. One ongoing project is the comprehensive £2.25 million refurbishment of Prestwick Swimming Pool, designed to enhance sport and leisure opportunities for the local community. The works include upgrades to the pool facilities, improved accessibility, and energy-efficient solutions such as the installation of solar panels and modern heating systems. These enhancements will reduce the building’s carbon footprint while creating a more welcoming and sustainable environment for users of all ages.

Another significant project is the £10 million modernisation of the Citadel Leisure Centre. This iconic facility, known for its distinctive architecture and community value, is being carefully redeveloped to preserve its much-loved character while introducing modern features and amenities. The project will include upgraded fitness suites, new changing areas, improved circulation, and enhanced accessibility all designed to support increased usage and long-term viability.

These projects exemplify Robertson’s commitment to creating sustainable, future-ready facilities that benefit both local communities and the environment.

"We are ambitious in our plans to make North Ayrshire and i3 a key Life Science business destination. i3 is the largest Life Sciences Enterprise Area in Scotland and is the perfect base for new and growing companies from a variety of sectors, with the land and infrastructure to facilitate and support long-term growth. We are excited and confident that we will secure new tenants for these fantastic facilities and look forward to further development of this strategically important site."
