Improving building efficiency, lowering bills for residents

Robertson has replaced the render system on two nine-storey residential buildings – Castlegate House and Church House – in Elland, improving the buildings’ energy efficiency performance.

To ensure best value over the long term, we carried out building surveys which highlighted two additional key issues:

  • existing wall ties would not last the lifespan of the new render system;
  • windows in both buildings were at the end of their warranted lifespan.

By replacing wall ties as part of a fully-guaranteed package, our customer has the assurance that the external walls are warranted for the next 25 years. Replacing the windows has further improved the energy efficiency rating of the buildings, lowering fuel bills for residents.

Resident engagement

The project team have worked hard to minimise any impact on households, collaborating with building managers in both residences to carefully coordinate works and ensure awareness of our safety measures and any possible disruption.

Continuing a successful partnership

Our contract for Castlegate House and Church House follows the success of cladding replacement for Together Housing at Mixenden Tower and continues with a further project on Ebor House in Bridlington.

This £1.3m package includes removal of the existing external wall system which will be replaced with an insulated render system to achieve compliance with BS:8414 and BRE 135.
