Key facts

Affordable housing for older people

Providing homes for people aged 55 or older is a key priority in The Highland Council’s housing programme. Midmills provides a ready-made community with high-quality, attractive and secure accommodation for people of a similar age.

The city centre properties were designed by LDN Architects specifically for older tenants, with bold use of colour, maximum natural daylight, level access bathrooms, and accessible door entry systems and lifts.

Generous amenity spaces help to transform the existing space into a thriving community area.

Renovating former college site and buildings

The apartments form part of an extensive plan for the wider Midmills site, to reinvigorate this historic and desirable area of Inverness.

Three blocks of 10 one- or two-bedroom flats were created alongside a former B-listed janitor’s cottage converted into a two-bedroom house.

The homes follow on from Robertson Northern’s completion of WASPS Studios which saw the transformation of part of the historic college campus into spaces for artists and makers.

The transformation is very impressive with beautiful homes and great communal spaces and it complements the regeneration of the rest of the site including the newly opened WASPS Studios.
