Robertson Preliminary Accounts Release

Client focus and sustainable order book drives in excess of 25% turnover growth for Robertson

Robertson expects to report in excess of 25 per cent growth in turnover to March 2018 once it reports later in the year. This strong financial performance follows the five year strategic plan which was put in place to deliver long-term sustainable profitable growth.

Group CEO, Derek Shewan confirmed that the surge in 2017 attributed to a number of high-profile construction projects and a strong order book in most of our businesses.

Following the demise of PFI where Robertson had grown a strong presence, the Group chose a future strategy addressing the changing market using key learnings from private sector investments in the public sector. This has included Major Construction Projects, investment and growth in Facilities Management.

Despite the challenges in the industry caused through the banking crisis in the early years of our plan the firm has gone from strength to strength and now employs 3,000 people in roles covering the entire built environment.

In May (2018) Edrington Group named Robertson "masters of construction" when they handed over the drinks giant's newly built £140million Macallan distillery and visitor experience, located in Scotland's whisky country, Speyside. A world number one at this time.

Robertson founder and executive chairman, Bill Robertson said: "We have worked hard at making sure the business has a strong market presence with a client and defined sector focus. This strategic approach has allowed us to play to many of our strengths, which has in turn supported our growth in larger projects since 2010.

"Robertson is also the main contractor on the £330million Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC), the largest Robertson project in its 52-year history. At present, we have 237 live infrastructure contracts including schools, universities, residential homes, leisure centres, roads, and bridges, retail outlets and warehousing spanning Scotland and North England.

"We adopt a clear strategy of focus and high-quality deliverability and profitability which provides the best project outcomes for our valued customers and suppliers and a sustainable business into the future. We are in a robust position to continue our momentum which has recently seen our involvement in major opportunities such as the Macallan, the AECC and Balfour Hospital in Orkney, – all of which have demanded us to excel."
