Expanding the global leader in offshore wind

We built an Operations & Maintenance Facility for our client, Ørsted UK, the global leader in offshore wind. The facility serves both of Ørsted UK’s offshore windfarms in the area, the Burbo Bank wind farm and the Burbo Bank Extension.

The company has recently rebranded from its previous name - DONG Energy, standing for Danish Oil & Natural Gas. The new name, Ørsted represents its focus on renewable technology. The building is located at Kings Wharf, Birkenhead, with a view of the award-winning Mersey waterfront.

Serving some of the world's largest wind turbines

Burbo Bank Extension is able to power over 230,000 homes using 32 of the world's largest, most powerful wind turbines. These were installed in 2016 in an area covering 40km2 in Liverpool Bay.

The building is used for the storage of materials and equipment required for the ongoing maintenance of the wind farm. It also has office facilities and parking for staff.

The facility comprises a storage warehouse along with office space, changing rooms, and welfare and ancillary facilities across two floors, providing Ørsted UK with a base for 45 full-time staff.

Community art project for construction hoarding design

Community art project

We were commissioned to develop a community artwork project. Art and design students and lecturers from the local community in The Wirral and Merseyside produced a site hoarding design to celebrate the Mersey and discourage vandalism, as well as poetic quotes that were distributed in a corresponding booklet. An ongoing relationship

Robertson Facilities Managment won a one-year contract to deliver a combination of hard and soft FM services at the facility. Services will include planned and reactive maintenance, property and building maintenance, minor works and project management, window cleaning and other specialist services.
