Safe working in live residential environments
Resident and stakeholder safety was maintained throughout the project despite the challenges of working in occupied homes and managing complex site logistics. The key challenge was co-ordinating works while minimising disruption to residents. Through early tenant liaison, structured communication and daily engagement on site, residents were kept informed and reassured throughout. Just-in-time deliveries, sensitive landscaping considerations and proactive issue resolution helped accelerate progress and maintain a positive resident experience.
Improving the quality of housing across the Sheddocksley area
This project involved replacing existing roof tiles or slates for 45 properties. Works included full roof covering renewal including tiled and slate roofs, minor extensions to eaves, fascias and soffits to support future external wall insulation, and replacement of membranes, battens and counter-battens, along with any required sarking, truss and chimney repairs.
Due to the dispersed nature of the properties, we set up a centralised compound with storage and welfare facilities. The methodology was refined to enhance safety, moving away from cantilevered scaffold removal in favour of dismantling the roof from within the roof structure.
Ahead of schedule for Aberdeen City Council residents
Efficient planning and increased resourcing brought the project ahead of programme. Finishing before Christmas was a key priority for ACC, ensuring scaffolding was removed from residents’ homes over the holiday period and avoiding unnecessary standing time. This early completion reduced disruption and delivered clear time and cost benefits.

Route to market
The Aberdeen City Council project was directly procured through the Procurement Hub Major Projects Framework 2 (MPF2). This provided a flexible route to procure different projects together, and established time and cost savings through a transparent and collaborative engagement process.
