In Fife, we are delivering an extra care facility in Lochgelly for Fife Council. As part of our social impact work on the project we have partnered with Trust in Fife, a charity dedicated to supporting people who are homeless or at risk across the region.

Through our Intro to Construction talks and mock interview sessions (hosted in collaboration with colleagues across Robertson) we’ve been able to engage directly with potential future talent and help them understand pathways into our industry.

One of the individuals we met through these sessions was Tyler. From the moment he took part in the programme he demonstrated a positive attitude and strong willingness to work. That led to him being hosted for a week of work experience with Robertson.

During his placement, Tyler impressed everyone he worked with (including site manager John Kerr and the team from sub-contractor WM Donald) with real enthusiasm, aptitude and team spirit. As a result, he was offered a Civil Engineering Apprenticeship with the WM Donald team.

The initiative demonstrates how partnership working can create tangible opportunities, change lives and help build stronger local communities. It also highlights just how powerful supportive workplace experiences can be in helping people transition into meaningful, long-term employment.

This was Trust in Fife's first time working in partnership with Robertson to offer work placements and job support to our clients. There was a great turnout to the Intro to Construction talks and Mock Interview sessions with two of our clients getting placements. I was over the moon to hear one of our clients, Tyler did so well on his placement he has secured a job with one of the sites sub-contractors. I hope we can be involved in this process in the future.
