Summary
A childcare boost for local families
Robertson has constructed seven new Early Years education centres in Stirlingshire as part of Stirling Council's commitment to deliver the Scottish Government's requirement for 1140 hours of free early learning and childcare for the community.
These projects were procured through the Procurement Hub – Major Projects framework, which saves time and provides quality, value for money and social value guarantees.

Constructing early years facilities across Stirlingshire
In total seven projects were undertaken over 10 months with their own individual construction requirements for every property. Spread across the region, the new nursery facilities varied from upgrading premises in existing school premises with refurbishment
- Aberfoyle Early Years Centre saw the team refurbish 150m2 of space including playrooms, bathroom, cloakroom, reception, storage and kitchen areas. The refurbished centre has increased capacity from 24 to 32 pupils.
- Hillview Early Years Centre saw the team do a major refurbishment 330 m2 of space including playrooms, bathroom, offices, cloakroom, corridors and kitchen areas, as well as the integrated community centre. The centre has capacity for 24 pupils.
- Bridge of Allan Early Years Centre saw the team refurbish 70 m2 of space including classroom and kitchen areas. The refurbished centre has increased capacity from 30 to 32 pupils.
- Killin Early Years Centre saw the team refurbish 150 m2 of space including playrooms, bathroom, cloakroom, kitchen and staff areas. Additional renovations were also undertaken to the Primary school areas of the building. The centre has capacity for 16 pupils.
- Crianlarich Early Years Centre saw the team refurbish 110 m2 of space including playrooms, bathrooms, cloakroom, kitchen and conversion of an existing garage into staff areas. The centre has capacity for 8 pupils.
- Wellgreen Early Years Centre saw the team refurbish 25 m2 of space including bathroom, staffroom and kitchen areas. The centre has capacity for 24 pupils.
- Bannockburn Early Years Centre saw the team refurbish 20m2 of space including playroom and staff areas. The refurbished centre has increased capacity from 24 to 32 pupils.
Benefiting the local community
As with all projects procured through Procurement Hub – Major Projects, these projects provide guaranteed support for local communities in a variety of ways, including creating local employment and educational opportunities. Capitalising on inquisitive minds, a number of community development events took place and over 190 pupils and their teachers benefited from STEM workshops.
Working within live school environments
All of the projects were delivered within live school environments, with our team were operating in close proximity to children. All operations take this into account to ensure everyone's complete safety as well as to minimise disruption to education.
