James House will provide emergency accommodation for people who suddenly find themselves without a home.

There will be units to suit all sizes of vulnerable households with one, two and three-bedroom flats for families, couples and single people.

Robertson will develop a safe and enclosed courtyard area with new amenity space, including play equipment and a landscaped garden for residents use. At the front of the building we will create staff/resident car parking and secure cycle parking in a new brick building.

James House Yorkshire

Developing James House will bring various benefits to City of York Council. It will increase the provision for temporary homeless accommodation, improve the quality of facilities available and consolidate existing housing that is both not fit for purpose as well as scattered across the city.

It will also allow some of these existing sites to be converted into new council housing.
