Robertson joins Homelessness Alliance
Robertson has become a member of the Homelessness Alliance, strengthening its commitment to supporting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Led by Crisis, the national charity for people experiencing homelessness, the Alliance was developed in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. It brings together employers working collectively to address homelessness through workplace action and long-term opportunity.
Robertson places great importance on delivering positive social impact through its work and one of the themes in its Social Impact strategy is homelessness, recognising that securing stable employment and community connection plays a vital role in giving people a fresh start.
Graeme Hannah, Director of Sustainability and Social Impact at Robertson said: “Joining the Homelessness Alliance is about strengthening the work we already do in making a positive social impact through our work. We are committed to playing a part in helping to end homelessness by raising awareness and building partnerships to offer long-term support and opportunity."
Tyler's story
Recent work around the issue includes a partnership we set up with Trust in Fife, a charity dedicated to supporting people who are homeless or at risk.
In conjunction with the charity, Robertson organised Intro to Construction talks and mock interview sessions and met Tyler who was participating in the programme. His positive attitude and willingness to work led to a week of work experience on a Robertson site in Lochgelly. In turn Tyler was then offered an apprenticeship with Robertson sub-contractor WM Donald.
Vicky Richards, Homelessness Alliance Programme Manager at Crisis added: We’re delighted to have Robertson Group as an Ally of the Homelessness Alliance. While it took time to bring this partnership together, what’s clear is that Robertson is already delivering meaningful action aligned to the Alliance Pledges across its business.
“The work with Trust in Fife, and Tyler’s journey into an apprenticeship, is a powerful example of what’s possible when employers create inclusive pathways into work. By joining the Alliance, we can now formally support and build on this activity, helping to scale impact even further.
“Robertson is already demonstrating leadership in this space, and we’re excited to work together to drive long term change.”
Graeme Hannah from Robertson continued: “This shows how targeted support and partnership working can create real opportunities for people to move into employment. We are grateful to have played a part in supporting Tyler and wish him every success as he begins his career.”
