Robertson Construction Group appointed preferred contractor for landmark Highland projects
Highland Council has appointed Robertson Construction Group as preferred main contractor for two major infrastructure projects to be delivered under its new Highland Investment Plan.
Highland Council has appointed Robertson Construction Group as preferred main contractor for two major infrastructure projects to be delivered under its new Highland Investment Plan.
The group will lead the delivery of the Dingwall Community Point of Delivery (PoD) and the Tornagrain Primary School.
The Highland Investment Plan (HIP) is a £2.1 billion, 20-year capital investment programme led by Highland Council to deliver improvements to local infrastructure and services.
A key element of the HIP is the creation of community hubs, known as Points of Delivery (PoDs), supporting a move towards a single public estate incorporating schools, offices, depots and partners, creating more integrated community-based facilities.
The Dingwall project is part of the first phase of the Highland Council PoD masterplan and will see St Clements ASN and Dingwall Primary schools co-located on a shared campus site, with the potential for further spaces to be used by other public sector partners.
The appointment for Tornagrain highlights the expertise of Robertson in delivering high-performance, sustainable infrastructure. Located east of Inverness, Tornagrain is a contemporary new town masterplanned for up to 5,000 homes.
Tornagrain is built on the concept of a walkable, self-sustaining community. The new school is a central component of this vision, supporting 20-minute neighbourhood principles by encouraging active travel and reducing car dependency.
The proposed scope includes the school, early years nursery, offices, meeting spaces and community sports facilities.
Both Dingwall PoD and Tornagrain will be designed to achieve formal Passivhaus Accreditation, using a fabric-first approach with high levels of insulation and an airtight building envelope to significantly reduce energy consumption.
Elliot Robertson, Chief Executive Officer for Robertson Group said: "The Highland Investment Plan is a transformative programme that will bring lasting benefits to communities across the region. We look forward to collaborating with Highland Council and hub North Scotland to deliver the Dingwall and Tornagrain projects. Our team is ready to apply its previous expertise in delivering community-based integrated facilities.”
