Dundee Waterfront office development reaches full occupancy
The £26m Grade A office development, James Thomson House, at Dundee Waterfront has reached full tenant occupation.
Delivered by Robertson Construction Tayside for Dundee City Council, the six-storey building forms a key part of the city’s £1.6b Waterfront regeneration programme, located directly opposite the V&A.
The building has now been fully let following the arrival of N-able, the global software company specialising in IT management and cybersecurity solutions, which joins Dundee-founded law firm Thorntons as the principal occupiers of the development. The lower level will initially be home to 150 N-able staff.
Thorntons was the first occupier, taking three floors of the building, with N-able now occupying the remaining available space to establish a significant Dundee presence within the Waterfront district.
James Thomson House takes its name from a local architect and provides modern workspaces, high-quality meeting areas, collaboration and event spaces and cutting-edge digital infrastructure. Designed to the highest sustainability standards, it includes BREEAM Excellent and EPC A credentials, alongside facilities supporting active travel.
At ground level, the development includes two commercial units, with improved pedestrian links connecting the city centre, the waterfront and surrounding public realm. Parking spaces and EV charging also feature.
External landscaping integrates the building into the wider regeneration zone, while its fully glazed design complements the architecture of neighbouring Agnes Husband House, also delivered by Robertson for Dundee City Council in 2019 and now home to Social Security Scotland.
James Thomson House saw 82% of construction spend within 40 miles of the site and 96% of all spend directed to SMEs. Additionally, 10 new jobs were created including five apprentices, with a total of 520 apprenticeship weeks delivered on site supporting 23 individuals gain valuable skills and industry experience.

Partly financed through the Scottish Government’s Growth Accelerator model, the design and build project was awarded to Robertson Construction Tayside by Dundee City Council through the Procurement Hub – Major Projects Framework 2 (MPF2) and was completed in winter 2025.
