Meeting local needs and supporting Fife Council’s sustainable housing goals
A new development of 58 high-quality, energy-efficient affordable homes has been built next to Glenrothes Strollers Football Club, continuing a successful partnership between Robertson and Fife Council.
Delivered ahead of schedule, this project marks the sixth of seven developments Robertson has delivered as part of Fife Council’s ambitious housebuilding programme, reinforcing the council’s commitment to providing sustainable, modern homes across the region. High-quality masterplanning to create an inclusive community
At Viewfield Park, we delivered a diverse mix of house types, including cottage flats, townhouses, two, three, and five-bedroom houses, alongside wheelchair-accessible and amenity bungalows. Our design balances practical, accessible living with the creation of a vibrant, inclusive place to live.
Through careful masterplanning, we integrated the homes seamlessly into the surrounding area, ensuring easy access to schools, bus routes, industrial estates, and local amenities such as the sports centre. The Secured by Design certified layout promotes safe pedestrian movement, while the variety of house types ensures homes meet the needs of families, individuals, and those requiring specialist accommodation.
The landscaping and site layout support community cohesion, creating green spaces and pedestrian-friendly pathways that complement the neighbourhood.
Delivering sustainable designs for homes with low running costs
To support Fife Council’s goal of increasing their stock of high-quality housing, we have constructed the homes to highly energy efficient designs with features to keep energy bills low for residents, underlining the council's commitment to the natural environment and the wellbeing of its communities.
Sprinkler systems are fitted throughout, recognising Fife and Scottish Government criteria for safety to be paramount in newly built homes.
The highest standards of environmental performance on site
Throughout construction, we implemented environmentally responsible practices, minimised waste, and sourced materials sustainably, supporting both Robertson’s and Fife Council’s commitment to long-term, energy-efficient housing.
Our site team upheld the highest standards of safe, well-managed, and community-focused construction, earning an “Excellent” rating from the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Environmental performance was a priority throughout delivery. By using HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel on site, we significantly reduced carbon emissions, supporting a lower-impact approach to delivery.
Through off-site timber frame production, we improved efficiency and reduced embodied carbon by manufacturing key structural elements in a controlled environment before assembling them on site. This approach allowed us to minimise waste, maintain high quality, and lower the environmental footprint of the development.

Long-lasting social impact
Working with Fife Council and community partners, we delivered significant social, economic and environmental benefits for the local community. Through our commitment to local supply chains, we generated over £10.1m of local spend, including £9.4m with local enterprises and £664,743 with local MSMEs, supporting inclusive economic growth across Fife.
We invested in future talent through 501 apprenticeship weeks across six apprenticeships, 10 weeks of work experience, 294 hours dedicated to supporting young people, engagement with Fife College’s Females into Construction Programme, and employment opportunities for individuals from not-in-education, employment or training (NEET) backgrounds.
Our sustainability initiatives achieved an additional 95 tonnes of CO₂ savings, far exceeding the project target, while material reuse partnerships supported community projects and the circular economy. We also contributed £9,868 to local community initiatives, including £6,868 of works and donations to Glenrothes Strollers. These achievements were complemented by outstanding Considerate Constructors Scheme scores of 42/45 and 45/45, achieving an Excellent rating on both visits.
