Summary
Investment in education for the community of Menzieshill
Robertson Tayside constructed Tayview Primary School, combining three former education facilities in Dundee.
The project was procured through Scape Group's National Major Works Framework, since superseded by Major Works Scotland, part of Scape's National Construction framework. It was delivered by Robertson in partnership with Willmott Dixon. Scape Group is a public sector owned built environment specialist offering a full suite of national frameworks and innovative design solutions.
Renewing outdated facilities
The two-storey, three-stream Tayview Primary School replaced the former Gowriehill and Hillside buildings and also Menzieshill Nursery.
The building was designed for an anticipated school roll of 650 pupils. There is also a nursery school for 70 full time equivalent (FTE) three- to five-year-olds, with a separate nursery area for up to 30 (FTE) two-year-olds.

Community involvement
The children helped choose the name of their new school and assisted with ideas for the logo design.
The project has so far helped to create four new start employment opportunities, five apprenticeships and 13 work experience opportunities for city school pupils during the course of the build.
Tayview will provide modern, spacious surroundings for pupils and staff to thrive in their education.
