Fostering inclusion through digital innovation
Over 600 pupils and staff engaged in immersive VR experiences, promoting inclusion and community connection
The Mynydd Isa School project seamlessly integrated digital technology to actively engage the local community throughout its development. A suite of innovative tools — including a Virtual Reality (VR) site tour, drones, and digital fly-through visualisations — invited the Flintshire community to get involved in shaping the school’s future in the North Wales.
A key feature of the project was the Virtual Reality site experience, which allowed students, staff, and the wider community to virtually explore their new school before its completion. This immersive experience brought our commitment to building strong community relationships and embracing digital innovation to life, ensuring the project was both accessible and engaging for everyone involved.
VR Tour
The opportunity to participate in a VR tour of the school fostered a sense of excitement among locals, offering a guided walkthrough of key areas such as classrooms, sports facilities, and shared spaces. Interactive games focused on themes of safety, design and construction offering educational opportunities for young learners to connect with the project in a meaningful way.
Digital fly-throughs
Digital fly-through visualisations further enhanced stakeholder engagement by allowing participants to envision the finished school and experience how new design features and spaces would operate. Meanwhile, drone footage captured the sheer size, scale and progress of the development, showcasing aerial views, and regular updates highlighting the project’s transformation over time.
These digital tools marked a milestone in modern education infrastructure, enhanced community and communication. Clear interactions with local authorities, families, and the community created a safe and inclusive space for all to witness the project’s journey.

Inspiring Young Minds Through STEM
The integration of cutting-edge digital technologies sparked interest in STEM, construction, and infrastructure industries among young learners who actively participated in the process. The tools used within the project will have a lifelong impact on curriculum development, school inductions and events within the local community.
Impact on Local Community
The local community and stakeholders were actively involved in the entire process, from groundworks to final completion. This practical involvement fostered a sense of pride and trust as locals could witness the transformation first-hand.
