The remodelled Technology Building is home to scientists and engineers researching topics such as digital manufacturing, virtual reality, smart technologies, digital forensics, robotics and electric vehicles.

Remodelling works in a live campus environment

With a short lead-up to the project, we prioritised developing technical designs so that materials were procured and on site, ready for the programme start. Our attention to detail in planning and logistics, scheduling of works, and health and safety ensured that the existing building and equipment stayed in operation while the refurbishment was carried out.

Sustainable refurbishment

The new building has 500 solar panels installed on its roof, generating 150,000 kWh per year, reducing conventional energy consumption. This is a key contributor to the University's '10 Point Plan' towards achieving Carbon Neutral status.

This is a major project for us, enhancing our research capability in important areas in engineering where we already have world-leading teams. It is also an important investment in our plans to become carbon neutral.
