Sector: Residential Completion date: August 2020

Construction of the £5.8m housing development at Portsoy’s Park Crescent is now underway. The properties – 23 houses, 20 cottage flats and one bungalow – will boost the availability of high-quality, social rented housing in north Aberdeenshire.

“I’m delighted we are working with Aberdeenshire Council and the Scottish Government to improve the area’s affordable housing stock.”

- Pat Cahill, Director of Sanctuary Scotland

“It will deliver additional rental accommodation in north Aberdeenshire that I know will be very welcome.”

- Councillor Anne Stirling, Chair of Aberdeen Council

Supporting Council plans with this residential development

This housing project supports Aberdeenshire Council’s strategic housing investment plan and was supported with a £3.9 million grant from the Scottish Government. This affordable residential development aims to incorporate the location in its house design, focusing on achieving distinct rural character whilst respecting and enhancing existing features of the site.

These new build homes are a welcome addition to the 18 properties already managed by Sanctuary in Portsoy.

The first keys are set to be handed to families in the first half 2020, with overall project completion set for, summer 2020.

Transforming a site into homes

This development will transform the site where the town’s former Campbell Hospital once stood, Campbell Hospital saw an upgrade in 2011 and now stands in a neighbouring facility situated in Banff.

The site lies within a predominantly residential area and will create an attractive development to complete the western boundary edge of the settlement.

Partnership Homes are the site contractor, with this development being the first design and build contract with Sanctuary Housing Association in the region.

Welcoming the Portsoy locals

As this project is still live, and due to its location, there has been limited engagement so far. There have however been 10 work placements completed on site totalling 32 weeks with school engagement activities scheduled in the coming months.

The site team held an open day for the community, this was welcomed by the locals and gave them the opportunity to visit the development and learn about our future plans.
