Robertson Eastern has transformed a former derelict public house into student accommodation. Caledon Court now has the capacity to house up to 200 students and is just a stone’s throw away from the Robert Gordon University campus.
The area has gone through a massive transformation. Not only does it benefit the students living in the new accommodation but the whole community, providing new business and a fresh, contemporary building design.
The facility offers 200 student beds with a mix of studio flats and apartments, along with indoor and outdoor social spaces.
The customer, Watkin Jones is delighted with the results and the overall space that has been created for students to enjoy during their studies in Aberdeen.
As a social enterprise trading charity, Glencraft provides career opportunities for disadvantaged and visually impaired people who currently make up 80 per cent of the workforce. Their contract to supply over 800 mattresses to Robertson for the student accommodation flats, Pittodrie Street and Caledon Court, means the company can consider moving towards a four-day working week for their employees.
“This order from Robertson, to supply 818 mattresses for their student accommodation flats development on Pittodrie Street and Caledon Garthdee is a significant contract for our business. Aberdeen’s business community is very effective when it comes to partnerships and collaborative working and we’re very pleased that we’ve been selected by Robertson to fulfil this contract.”
