Topping out at redevelopment of key Edinburgh office building
A significant milestone has been reached in the redevelopment of 10 George Street in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town.
Robertson began work on the refurbishment of the office accommodation in March this year for La Francaise Real Estate Partners International on behalf of their client Sampension KP.
The project retains much of the frame of the 1990s building and is sensitive to the historic setting. Architect Reiach and Hall has achieved increased massing to create efficient and high-quality Grade A office space.
The building is scheduled for completion in April 2019 and is entirely pre-let to Standard Life Aberdeen for 15 years. Upon completion, the asset will comprise of 67,000 sq. ft. high quality "green" office space across ground and six floors. The refurbishment will also include new lifts, office floors and ceilings while there are 12 secure basement car parking spaces.
Peter Balfour, Investment Director with La Francaise Real Estate Partners International, said: "This is a complex project and I am impressed with the way Robertson is working as a team to deliver the scheme. The ultimate product will be something to be proud of, with magnificent views of Edinburgh Castle, striking architecture and quality finishes. I am pleased that Martin Pedersen of Sampension KP travelled from Denmark to top out the building."
David Cairns, Managing Director, Robertson Central East, said: "We are delivering a major refurbishment at 10 George Street and once the work is complete the building will be one of the most desirable office locations in the city."
Robertson is working alongside Cushman & Wakefield at 10 George Street, with the firm providing project management, costing and interior services. In addition, the two businesses are collaborating on a £5m office refurbishment at premises in Edinburgh Park.
La Francaise Real Estate Partners International achieved the leasing transaction with Cushman & Wakefield.
