Sir Bill Robertson congratulates long serving employees

Marking 40 years with Robertson is Mike Turner, Managing Director of Robertson Timber Engineering. Raised in Tomintoul, Mike began his career as an apprentice joiner in Elgin, earning awards at Moray College and winning the Scottish Joinery Competition. Over four decades, he has progressed from apprentice to Managing Director, helping to deliver landmark projects including the Linac Accelerator Building at Raigmore Hospital, where he secured the business's first Considerate Constructors Scheme Silver Award. 

Beyond Robertson, Mike has made a significant contribution to the wider construction industry through the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), progressing from trade apprentice to Fellow of the CIOB. He also served as Chair of the Highlands and Islands Centre. 

Also celebrating 40 years is David Thomson, Joiner with Robertson Construction Northern. A highly skilled tradesman and respected mentor, David has worked across Moray, the Highlands and Islands, Lochaber and Aberdeenshire during his career. He has supported and developed many apprentices over the years, including Neil Cooper, who joined him at the celebration as he marked his own long service milestone.

Neil has spent 25 years building a successful career with Robertson Construction Northern after starting as David’s apprentice. Today, he is a respected and experienced joiner who has contributed to a wide range of projects while continuing to support the next generation of tradespeople by mentoring apprentices across the business. Notable projects include accommodation at RAF Lossiemouth and Pluscarden Abbey.

Susan Wilson, Interim Lead Director, Robertson Construction Eastern, is also celebrating 25 years with Robertson. Since joining as Senior Quantity Surveyor on the Aberdeen Sick Kids project, she has established herself as a respected leader within the business. 

Throughout her career, Susan has played a key role in delivering projects across the North East of Scotland, spanning education, healthcare, commercial and hospitality sectors. Known for her professionalism, collaborative approach and technical expertise, she has also supported the development of colleagues across Robertson.

Joiner Lenny Inglis marks 25 years with Robertson Construction Eastern. Known for his dependable nature, patience and willingness to help others, Lenny has built a reputation for delivering high-quality work while supporting colleagues and apprentices alike.

Whether carrying out complex joinery work, helping project teams prepare for handovers or sharing his experience with younger tradespeople, he consistently leads by example. More recently, he has played an important role in projects delivered through the NHS Grampian measured term contract.

Completing the group of long service employees is Michael Walker, Bricklayer with Robertson Construction Northern who is celebrating 25 years with the business. During that time, he has contributed to housing developments, military projects, commercial buildings and industrial facilities. Widely respected for his practical approach, positive attitude and willingness to support others, Michael has also helped foster a strong team culture on site while sharing his knowledge with colleagues starting out in their careers.
