Mini Construction Zone opens at Aberdeen Science Centre with support from Robertson

Young visitors to Aberdeen Science Centre can now try their hand at building work thanks to a new construction-themed activity space created in partnership with Robertson Construction Eastern.

The Mini Construction Zone – part of the centre’s existing Make It Zone – encourages children to explore the world of construction through hands-on role-play. Foam bricks, toy tools, hi-vis vests and hard hats are all part of the experience, designed to bring STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to life in a fun and accessible way.

Robertson is sponsoring the space as part of its wider commitment to inspiring future careers in construction. Alongside the play equipment, the area also includes information about local building projects and the wide range of careers available in the sector.

The partnership reflects a shared ambition between Robertson and Aberdeen Science Centre to spark curiosity and creativity through real-world learning.

Gordon Milne, Regional Managing Director, Robertson Construction Eastern, said: “Sponsoring and helping create the Mini Construction Zone is a great way for us to support STEM learning in a fun, hands-on setting. Social impact is a big part of what we do, and this builds on the work already happening across our projects in Aberdeen. It’s important that young people can see how the built environment takes shape and understand the career opportunities within the sector. We are hoping this helps inspire a new generation to consider a role in the built environment.”

Charlie Trupo, Fundraising Manager, Aberdeen Science Centre, said: “We are thrilled to receive support from Robertson Group which will help us to widen the scope and impact of our various STEM engagements in the local area. Our new partnership reflects the incredible value of working with industry to inspire the next generation of innovators, and we are incredibly grateful to begin our relationship with them this summer.”
