Gary Bushnell appointed Managing Director of Robertson Capital Projects

Gary Bushnell has been appointed Managing Director of Robertson Capital Projects (RCP), following ten years as Chief Executive of hub East Central Scotland.

In his new role he will lead development, investment and delivery activity that supports public and private sector partners and customers across the UK. Gary will continue to support hub East Central Scotland through his ongoing position on the Board.

Part of the Robertson Group, RCP is a dedicated investment and project development business. It works with public and private sector customers to fund, develop, deliver and manage capital projects with a focus on regenerating estates and unlocking value from assets. It also plays a central role in Clear Futures, a long term national strategic partnership that supports public sector bodies to create products and deliver transformational projects which focus on capital programmes of work, sustainability, regeneration, renewables, strategic asset management and advisory services.

Gary’s experience spans education, healthcare, cultural, commercial and industrial projects delivered through a range of procurement routes. He joined hub East Central Scotland at its inception in 2012 as Commercial Manager before becoming Chief Executive in 2014.

Elliot Robertson, Chief Executive Officer, Robertson Group, said: “Gary has been part of the business for many years and takes on this role at a pivotal moment as public sector investment pipelines start to re-emerge.

“Robertson Capital Projects has the capability to provide investment, and as the government revisits public and private financing models, Gary’s experience will help to enable customers to get projects moving.

“Investment in the built environment creates multiple economic benefits and Gary will lead the team to deliver solutions for our partners which will have a positive impact on the delivery of new social green infrastructure, regeneration and housing at the same time as upgrading existing public sector estates to meet net zero requirements.”

Gary Bushnell, Managing Director, Robertson Capital Projects, said “Public budgets remain under extreme pressure. Our ability to support the delivery of social and community infrastructure, and provide potential investment opportunities for partners, means that we can help projects get the green light, bringing further economic wellbeing.

“Our experience extends through design, build, fund and maintain models, and delivering for customers who are reviewing their estates and developing plans for net zero. The team brings a strong understanding of how different funding solutions can be applied and how private sector finance can provide a defined route forward.

“I look forward to leading the team as we seek to create funding opportunities for new and existing customers.”

Robertson is a long-standing private sector development partner within hub East Central Scotland, working alongside public sector participants to plan and deliver community facilities across the territory. RCP supports the partnership by providing management and investment services that help plan, fund and deliver projects throughout the capital programme.

With Gary’s move to RCP, hub East Central Scotland has appointed Brian Craig as its new Chief Executive. Brian joins directly from Robertson Construction West, where he was Pre Construction Director. He brings almost thirty years of commercial, quantity surveying and project management experience across property and infrastructure, including major programmes in the UK, Ireland, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
