Summary
Bringing care facilities to the doorstep
This £7.7m purpose-built development for Hanover Scotland is geared at independent living, combining high-quality housing with on-site care for residents.
The 'housing with care' development provides modern, secure housing for people aged 60 and over who have a care need including disability and dementia. By bringing specially-designed housing and care facilites together, residents can continue to live in their own homes for longer. The development includes 14 amenity flats, five for wheelchair users and five for people with dementia, a residents' lounge, communal kitchen and office space for the care team.
Because of demand, we did a phased completion so residents with specific needs could access their new home and care as soon as possible. The team also worked with Hanover Scotland on open days before handing over the project, giving prospective residents and their families the chance to look around the accommodation and facilities for suitability, and easing the transition into an independent care setting.
The project continues our relationship with Hanover Scotland – specialists in services for older people – with three housing developments previously delivered together in Forres, Fort William and Fochabers.
