Cleaning up the image of construction

Cleaning up the image of construction

Urban Union is helping to improve the image of construction by encouraging others to follow suit after joining the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

Urban Union has become a client partner of the Considerate Constructors Scheme to help improve the construction industry's image and reputation.

A commitment has been made to improving the image of construction by encouraging other construction companies to register for the scheme. Urban Union will also be expected to encourage compliance across all aspects of the scheme's Code of Considerate Practice on all its registered sites and companies.

Neil McKay, Managing Director at Urban Union, said: "We are delighted to be a Client Partner of the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Urban Union works predominantly in the regeneration sector and it is vital to us to proactively improve and enhance the communities in which we work. The Considerate Constructors Scheme is therefore a great way for us to demonstrate our commitment to the community and positively improve the image of construction at the same time."

Considerate Constructors Scheme Chief Executive Edward Hardy said: "We welcome Urban Union as the 54th Client Partner of the Scheme. Every construction client has an extremely important role to play in helping to improve the image of the industry. By becoming a Client Partner of the Scheme, Urban Union is clearly demonstrating its dedication to raising standards in collaboration with its contractors and the supply chain.

"Client Partner registered sites consistently perform to a higher standard than other Scheme-registered sites, further underlining the positive impact this Partnership has on improving the image of the industry."

Urban Union is a joint venture company which delivers regeneration projects across urban communities and currently has three active projects in Scotland in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth. It was established in 2011 and builds new, high quality, affordable homes in areas which have a need for increased investment and community engagement.
