We addressed the specific needs of young people who most needed help, in a way that brings our expertise to those who would really benefit from it.

A bespoke programme to enhance skills and confidence
We designed this programme to:
- challenge perceptions to promote facilities management as a career path;
- give young people new-found skills and confidence that they can use in the future;
- tackle the issue of an aging workforce in the FM industry;
- and make a difference in north-east England.
Activities included:
- careers workshops and learning about the facilities management industry;
- careers workshops with Newcastle United FC around finance, retail and marketing;
- cooking and food hygiene workshops;
- menu design, meal preparation and cooking;
- presentation and speaking skills;
- and a final celebration event – a cooking challenge for invited VIP guests.
Improving young people’s lives
- ASDAN qualifications added to the CVs of all participants
- 99% said it had improved their attitude and motivation to learn;
- 99% said it had improved their confidence and self-esteem;
- 97% said it improved their work-life goals;
- 94% said it improved time-management and organisation;
- 83% said it improved financial capability;
- 80% said it increased aspirations; and
- 78% said it increased creativity and resilience.
