Bruntwood and Robertson top out at West Village Leeds

Developer and operator Bruntwood and principal contractor Robertson Construction Yorkshire & East Midlands (YEM) marked the topping out of West Village, a state-of-the-art workspace for businesses.

Key stakeholders gathered to commemorate the main structural completion ahead of the £4.2m project’s 2024 opening.

Robertson Construction YEM is responsible for delivering works on the 230,000 sq ft site, which comprises a new four-storey extension with external green walls. The project features two private terraces and roof gardens, and new finishings to the courtyard which will be used as a flexible event and communal space. Renovations are also being undertaken to the current retail units.

It was our pleasure to host Bruntwood at the site to celebrate with a topping out as we near the official handover in November. West Village will quickly become an innovative destination for business and the community.

Our main access to the site is though the archway on Wellington Street, this is also the route into West Village where an oasis of calm and tranquillity will be revealed in the heart of this bustling community. With its unique biophilic design, this project is poised to set an entirely new benchmark for office environments in the city, enhancing wellbeing and mindfulness whilst meeting the needs of businesses.

West Village sees the transformation of the existing West One Estate into a hub that will provide a workplace for businesses, offering vibrant, active and innovative spaces.

The re-imagined courtyard will serve as a peaceful green haven for reflection, active use, leisure, culture and connection to nature. This area will connect with the new and existing offices through the integration of biophilia within the buildings, creating wellness focussed environments.

West Village will be the first development in Yorkshire of Bruntwood Works’ £200m Pioneer programme. Which aims to create forward-thinking workspaces of the future centred on wellness, sustainability, biophilia, art, amenity and technology.
