Robertson Academy covers compulsory training and personal development across the company, as well as providing bespoke workshops and learning programmes specific to the requirements of our workforce, enhancing the business’ commitment to advancing the skills of all Robertson employees.

Bringing training and development in-house has been championed by Chairman Bill Robertson CBE DL, who joined the Robertson Academy team in Elgin, the town where he founded the company over 50 years ago.

Bill Robertson said: “We’re proud of the Robertson Academy, which will provide continuous training and development for all Robertson employees, no matter what stage of their career they are at – something that is very close to my heart.

“Those that are learning through the Academy and the skills development that is being provided will help sustain the business for the next 50 years, there is nothing more important than investing in our people and allowing them to reach their full potential.”

The initiative is aimed at supporting the ongoing development of the Group, which now has a dedicated workforce of over 3,200 employees.

Leading the Robertson Academy team is John McAllister, who said: “This approach will see us take the development of our people to the next level, aiding us in fulfilling our ambition to be the employer of choice in our chosen sectors. Robertson Academy acts as a major enabler of our ‘employee-led’ learning approach.

“We're looking forward to enhancing the technical and personal development skills of our people by providing the highest quality learning, allowing us to develop new capabilities, providing added value for our customers and in turn helping the business meet its strategic goals.”

This initiative is a further component of the Robertson people strategy, which is being championed by the Board and the company’s committed HR team. Learning delivered as part of Robertson Academy includes key health & safety, site management excellence, leadership coaching and business skills. Robertson Academy will grow with the business and in future may be expanded to offer the delivery of training support to supply chain partners.
