Robertson Facilities Management is a proud sponsor of BIFM Scotland, and we were there in full force – in the shape of Eddie Nelson, Ben Smith and Niall Fotheringham, experts in FM and energy management – to support the event and have conversations with our peers, clients and delegates.

This was a great opportunity for us to meet up with like-minded FM professionals, grow our network of FM contacts, and speak about the things that are important in our industry.

A day of learning and discussion

Ben Smith reported back from a very interesting seminar featuring Barry White, CEO of the Scottish Futures Trust, who praised the private-sector FM providers that have been fundamental in the success of frameworks such as Hub and NPD. BIFM also arranged role-plays, workshops and mock interviews, highlighting crucial issues like Health & Safety and protecting people in the workplace. Mark Catchlove and Ian Ellison also spoke engagingly on workplace design and how people interact with the spaces we work in.

Meeting a legend

Scotland Rugby Legend Gavin Hastings attended the conference as an inspiring keynote speaker. One of the outstanding rugby union players of his generation, Gavin most famously played rugby for Scotland and the British and Irish Lions, winning 61 caps for Scotland, 20 of which as captain. Gavin stopped by the Robertson stand and it was a pleasure for Eddie and Niall to meet him – as you can see from their beaming faces!

Eddie was also delighted to catch up with Preston Gan, BIFM committee member and Head of Quality and Performance in the Facilities and Estates sector for NHS Grampian – an organisation with which Robertson enjoys a long-standing partnership.

Creating a buzz

We had some great entertainment at our stand as visitors attempted to ‘Beat the Buzzer’ to win a bottle of Moët. The steady-handed winner of this challenge was Ian Sutherland from Perfect Service. Meanwhile, more fizz was on offer: Shalu Madan, Systems Support Advisor at Edinburgh Napier University, visited our stand and ended up winning a bottle of champagne in the business card lucky dip draw.

Beat the buzzer

Eddie, Ben and Niall were very pleased with the event, during which they were also given a tour of the impressive Murrayfield rugby stadium. If you want to have a chat with them about any aspects of FM and the services we provide, why not email or call 01786 431600?
