When watching Family Fortunes with my nearest and dearest we play along at home and things get very competitive:

“We asked 100 people to name something associated with Scotland?”

Of course, there were the usual suspects - tartan, kilt, bagpipes, the Loch Ness Monster, but with one space left on the board for the decider, the atmosphere was tense. Luckily, I knew the answer, whisky! I had recently spent some time helping to mobilise a new cleaning contract deep in the Scottish countryside.

Creating a wow factor

Located on the banks of the River Spey in the famous Speyside whisky region is the one-of-a-kind Macallan distillery. Robertson constructed the complex architectural design and following this, Robertson Facilities Management was appointed to deliver cleaning services to the distillery and visitor experience.

We have deployed a robust cleaning methodology aimed at creating an amazing experience for the visiting Macallan fans. The customer journey begins as soon as they step out of their vehicles, and our dedicated cleaning teams will maintain the highest standards to ensure there is an initial wow factor and showcase the Distillery in all of its glory.

Soft FM Cleaning in a live production environment

Cleaning in a live production environment

Due to the complex design of the building, there are challenges inherent to this kind of site that simply wouldn’t be found anywhere else. Communication is paramount at every level and we have assembled a first-class team to ensure the cleaning services are delivered in true partnership. There are 20 dedicated staff working this contract, with 10 on shift at any one time, overseen by two managers rotating over seven days to ensure consistent support.

Our Soft Services Manager took time to understand the client’s business, its objectives, and its reputation for high quality in all it does to ensure our cleaning service exceeded expectations. He relocated to the site for over 12 months to ensure a visible presence, working closely with the front-line staff embedding the Macallan culture and promoting a one team approach.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime project and the completed distillery is testament to the passion, commitment, and professionalism of our teams. We will carry on the legacy that our colleagues have created by delivering a first-class FM service provision.
