Enhancing student transport accessibility at Stirling University

Robertson Civil Engineering completed the new transport hub at the University of Stirling, improving the existing infrastructure running throughout the campus.

The twelve-week project was part of the University's masterplan. The transport hub forms part of the University's £21 million Campus Central project – one of the biggest infrastructure investments since its foundation – with work expected to complete by 2020.

The work included:

  • the formation of the new transport hub;
  • creating associated roads, footpaths and car park areas throughout the campus;
  • diversion of existing utility apparatus.

Buses will be re-routed to the transport hub, which provides close access to the Logie Lecture Theatre entrance and Cottrell teaching space, Stirling Court Hotel and the University of Stirling INTO Building.

This is one of the University's key ambitions to support the achievement of its strategic aims in learning, teaching and research all designed to significantly enhance the Stirling student experience and to deliver facilities commensurate with the University's ambitions to be one of the top 25 universities in the UK.

A step in the right direction

This project marked the first time Robertson Civil Engineering had worked with the University of Stirling.

The University was delighted to have engaged with Robertson. The delivery of these works within budget and to a high quality marked the completion of the first phase of the transformation of the centre of the campus.
