Major boost for Prudhoe as Tyneview Retail Park Scheme progresses and is on track to open at the end of the year

Prudhoe Estates, a joint partnership between Advance Northumberland and Northumberland Estates is pleased to confirm that the scheme is progressing well and on track to open at the end of this year.

With national brands already confirmed to take up space, the mixed-use retail park in one of Northumberland's largest towns looks set to deliver on its aims to increase local spend.

Tyneview Retail Park is a new retail and roadside development fronting A695 Princess Way to the North of Prudhoe town centre and extending to 75,329sqft approximately with 435 car park spaces.

'Tyneview Retail Park' will consist of a number of national retailers, including supermarket chain Aldi's 19,000sqft anchor food store, a B&M 22,000sqft Homestore including a 7.5000sqft garden centre and restaurant Cafe Ginevra all joining the scheme.

The Retail Park' will also be complemented by additional retail and a drive-thru restaurant, with further announcements of those joining the scheme to be released over the following months.

Prudhoe Estates started on site in November last year, the development programme is on track with the new retail outlets expected to open at the end of this year. Construction of the retail park is being delivered by Robertson Group.

Colin Barnes, Director of Northumberland Estates said: "Despite all of the challenges we have faced with ground conditions and lockdown, the development remains on track to be completed this year. We have worked for ages to bring new shops to Prudhoe and its rewarding to see the buildings now being constructed, with the prospect of attracting more investment to the town in the future'

Cllr Richard Wearmouth, Chair of Advance Northumberland and cabinet member for economic development at Northumberland County Council said: "It is great to see our joint scheme with Northumberland Estates progressing at Prudhoe, it will make a huge difference to the town. Developments like this will be vital in propelling our economy out of the COVID-19 crisis and we continue to plan and work on projects across our county, to ensure Northumberland's economy recovers rapidly."

Local county councillors Gordon Stewart and Ken Stow welcome the development at Low Prudhoe.

Ken Stow, representing Prudhoe North, said: "This will add considerably to the retail offer in the Prudhoe area - giving residents and visitors much wider shopping opportunities in their local area. It will also create a number of new jobs in the town."

Prudhoe South representative Gordon Stewart added: "Our recent experiences have demonstrated the importance of being able to shop locally. These new services and facilities will add to the great shopping opportunities that are already available on our high street, all saving people time and money by reducing the need to travel out of town."
