Robertson Offers Pupil New Opportunity

A 17-year-old boy has landed a job at an East Yorkshire school where he was a pupil less than 18 months ago.

Robertson FM, who facilitate after school clubs at Winifred Holtby and Tweendykes High School in Kingston Upon Hull as part of their wider facilities management contract with the Council asked if they would like to recommend anyone to be considered for employment as part of their communities’ team.

Zach Montgomery was successfully offered a job as community attendant after he impressed Robertson FM, part of the infrastructure, support services and construction group Robertson, with his “likeable” personality.

Robertson has successfully transformed the high school into a ‘community hub’ where state of the art facilities are used by local sports and community organisations as well as pupils who attend the school.

As a member of the on-site community team Zack is the first point of call for community users and the main focus of his role is to ensure Robertson provide an excellent customer service to all who use the facility.

The Head of P.E Darren Gardener suggested former sixth year pupil Zach Montgomery.

Mr Gardener said: “It is encouraging that Robertson is investing in a brighter future for one very lucky pupil. Zach was a model pupil and I am sure Robertson, in turn, will get a first class student who will be a credit to the community and Winifred Holtby and Tweendykes School.”

Zach took up his post as community attendant three months ago and is responsible for supervising the after school facilities. However, it was only a few months ago the 17-year-old was behind a desk in the current school.

Zach said: “I am very grateful to Robertson for giving me this opportunity. I always enjoyed taking part in after school clubs so it’s fantastic that I’ve been offered a job doing something that I enjoy and something I believe I am good at. I’m really pleased to be working on something that means so much to the local community and pupils.”

Zach is one of many young people Robertson FM can help on the road to a new career as they offer opportunities at a number of schools in East Yorkshire.

David MacDonald, Chief Executive Officer of Robertson FM, said: “Our facilities management contract at the Hull schools enables us to offer employment and educational opportunities for young people which can hopefully allow them to build long-term careers. Zach was a standout candidate for this position and I wish him the best of luck working with us.”
