The Esteem consortium comprising Robertson Capital Projects, Morgan Sindall Investments (MSIL),  and the Sewell Group, has beaten Balfour Beatty to be appointed Preferred Bidder by Hull City Council for its £400 million Building Schools for the Future programme.

The 25-year concession involves the delivery of 17 schools comprising seven newly built schools and major refurbishments to a further 10 schools.

Morgan Ashurst and Sewell Construction are the key delivery partners on the project and will lead the build programme joined by local construction partners, Hobson & Porter and Houlton.

The new facilities will comprise seven special needs schools, three community schools, three non-catchment voluntary aided schools, two academies, one Pathfinder Trust school and one co-located community secondary and special school.

Esteem expects to reach financial close on the scheme in late January 2010, with construction work beginning in February 2010.  It is expected to complete in January 2014.
